Senior / Operations Trainer

1.0 Job Responsibilities

1. Training Curriculum Development & Delivery

• Design, develop, update, and deliver structured training modules for PCBA, SMT, and Box Build operations. Prepare training materials, work instructions, manuals, and assessment tools to ensure effective knowledge transfer. Ensure training content aligns with production processes, quality standards, and operational requirements.

2. Quality Standards Enforcement

• Educate operators and production associates on IPC standards, ISO compliance, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conduct daily engagement sessions with new hires through the DL Learning Curve tracking mechanism. Monitor adherence to process compliance and quality standards.

3. Operator Certification & Assessment

• Assess operator competency and certify personnel for processes such as soldering, inspection, and assembly. Maintain accurate records of training activities, certification status, and competency levels. Plan and coordinate training schedules in collaboration with the Training Supervisor and HOD. Maintain and update the training database and Skill Matrix as required.

4. Skill Gap Analysis & Improvement

• Identify skill gaps through Skill Matrix analysis to determine additional training needs. Communicate identified gaps to supervisors and the Operations Department for follow-up actions.

5. Mentorship and Coaching

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to junior technicians, operators, QA personnel, and production associates. Develop evaluation criteria to measure training effectiveness.

6. Process Improvement Support

• Collaborate with Process Engineering teams to validate new processes and equipment. Update training materials and work instructions in accordance with process changes. Act as the Site 7S Champion by promoting workplace organization, safety awareness, and continuous improvement practices.

2.0 Job Requirements

1. Qualifications / Experience

• Minimum STPM or Diploma in Manufacturing, Engineering, Management, or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience as a Production Trainer in a manufacturing environment
• 7–10 years of total experience in electronics manufacturing or PCBA assembly

2. Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of SMT processes, PCBA assembly, soldering techniques, AOI systems, and IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610)
• Good knowledge of ISO management systems, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)

3. Skills & Competencies

• Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills

• Ability to assess performance and develop effective training strategies

• Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment

3.0 Authorities

• Authorize and certify operators upon successful completion of training and assessment
• Conduct competency evaluations and determine operator readiness for production deployment
• Approve the completion of OJT (On-the-Job Training) and update Skill Matrix records
• Enforce compliance with SOPs, IPC standards, and quality requirements during training
• Recommend retraining for operators who fail to meet the required standards
• Escalate quality, safety, or performance issues to the Training Supervisor, Production Supervisor, or HOD
• Recommend improvements to training modules, materials, and assessment methods
• Provide input on operator confirmation, cross-training, and promotion readiness
