Engagement Summary

Bushira Technologies (Pty) Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer to provide specialist cloud engineering, automation, and DevOps expertise on a flexible Time & Materials basis.

The successful consultant will work closely with our cloud architecture, engineering, and delivery teams to design, implement, optimize, and support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments. This role is ideal for an independent contractor or consulting professional who can provide high-value expertise across cloud infrastructure projects, platform modernization initiatives, automation programs, and operational support activities.

The engagement will be focused on delivering measurable business outcomes, with work assigned and billed according to agreed hourly or daily rates and approved project requirements.

Scope of Services

The Senior OCI Engineer will provide technical consulting and engineering services, including but not limited to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Engineering

• Design and implement Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Build, configure, and maintain OCI environments across development, test, and production workloads.
• Advise on best practices for scalability, resilience, security, and cost optimization.
• Support cloud migration, modernization, and transformation initiatives.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Develop and maintain Terraform modules and reusable infrastructure templates.
• Automate provisioning and configuration of OCI resources.
• Assist with infrastructure standardization and governance initiatives.
• Review and optimize existing Infrastructure as Code deployments.

DevOps & CI/CD Automation

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
• Integrate cloud provisioning workflows with DevOps tools and platforms.
• Automate operational tasks, environment deployments, monitoring, and remediation processes.
• Recommend and implement improvements to deployment efficiency and reliability.

Cloud Operations & Support

• Provide support for OCI platform operations and maintenance activities.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure, platform, and network-related issues.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation planning.

Security & Compliance

• Implement OCI security controls and governance policies.
• Configure and maintain OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies.
• Support compliance, audit, and security review activities.
• Advise on cloud security best practices and risk mitigation.

Networking & Connectivity

• Design and manage OCI network architectures.
• Configure and troubleshoot:
• Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs)
• Subnets
• Route Tables
• Network Security Groups (NSGs)
• VPN Connectivity
• FastConnect
• Hybrid Cloud Connectivity
• Support enterprise networking and integration requirements.

Technical Advisory Services

• Provide architecture reviews and technical recommendations.
• Contribute to solution design workshops and project planning activities.
• Mentor engineering teams and share OCI best practices.
• Produce technical documentation and deployment procedures.

Required Experience & Skills

The successful contractor should demonstrate:

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of cloud infrastructure engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience.
• Experience delivering enterprise cloud solutions in consulting, managed services, or project environments.
• Proven experience working with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps methodologies.

Contract Terms

• Engagement on a Time & Materials basis.
• Hours to be approved and tracked against agreed project deliverables.
• Flexible working arrangements.
• Contractor responsible for managing their own tax obligations, statutory requirements, and business equipment unless otherwise agreed.
• Availability for scheduled project meetings, design workshops, incident escalations, and delivery milestones.
• Work may involve both project delivery and operational support activities.
