The role

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator role is based in Sydney and operates as a dedicated embedded resource supporting Client’s Oracle environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day database operations and working independently to identify and resolve issues. Beyond this, the role will also contribute to building Brennan’s in-house Oracle support capability.

You will be the trusted Oracle expert both for the dedicated customer account and across Brennan’s broader Oracle capability.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day operational support and administration of the customer’s Oracle database estate, resolving incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Proactively monitor database health, capacity and performance to identify and resolve issues before they impact the customer.
  • Administer and support Oracle Exadata environments, including patching, health checks and performance tuning.
  • Manage and support Oracle databases hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle on Azure, including provisioning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Perform performance tuning, capacity planning and root-cause analysis across production and non-production environments.
  • Manage database backup and recovery, patching, upgrades and security hardening.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks and knowledge base articles.
  • Participate in change, incident and problem management processes, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Brennan’s in-house Oracle support capability.

Key skills and experience required:

  • 10+ years’ hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environment.

  • Demonstrated experience running and supporting Oracle databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

  • Experience running Oracle databases on Azure (Oracle Database@Azure or Oracle on Azure VMs).

  • Strong background in performance tuning, capacity planning and

    troubleshooting complex database issues.

  • Solid experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and RMAN backup and recovery.

  • Proven ability to work independently as a dedicated resource for a customer with strong customer-facing communication skills.

  • Experience working within ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change

    management processes.

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certification.

If you have the right experience and are looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, this role offers the chance to become the trusted Oracle expert for a key client while helping Brennan build its in-house Oracle capability.

Note: As part of our hiring process, you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check.

Brennan is an equal opportunity employer.
