The Role

As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, you'll play a key part in keeping mission-critical database systems in the finance sector fast, secure and always available. Working under the guidance of the Database Head and Lead, you'll manage day-to-day administration, drive optimisation and technology improvements, and support projects that extend service continuity across regional needs. This is a 12-month onsite contract for a Malaysian-based professional who thrives on ownership and problem-solving.

What You'll Do

• Perform Oracle database administration, optimisation, maintenance and housekeeping to keep systems running at peak performance

• Resolve database outages within defined SLAs and ensure capacity management and threshold alerts are automated

• Install and upgrade databases and related tools, evaluate new releases and coordinate pre-release testing with developers

• Set up database instances across development, QA and production environments, including storage structures and tablespaces

• Establish backup standards and schedules, and develop and regularly test recovery procedures

• Support database user access and security setup, and assist developers in optimising applications and queries

• Manage vendors and stakeholders, review contracts, lead projects to schedule and budget, and report on project status

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of Database Administration experience on MidRange/Wintel databases

• Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with 5+ years of relevant IT experience, or a Diploma in IT with 7+ years

• Strong knowledge of Oracle installation, upgrades and patching, performance tuning, and backup and recovery

• Experience with disaster recovery, plus knowledge of clustering (Oracle RAC, HACMP, Veritas, Windows cluster) and replication (Data Guard, GoldenGate)

• Professional DBMS certification and Mainframe database knowledge are advantageous

• Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with clear communication and a collaborative, customer-service mindset

• Self-driven, process-oriented, and willing to work longer hours when required

• Malaysian nationality only
