Senior Oracle Database & Linux Administrator

About the role

The Senior Oracle Database & Linux Administrator is responsible for the secure, stable, and efficient operation of enterprise Oracle database platforms. The primary focus of the role is Oracle database administration, including database lifecycle management, Data Guard, backup and recovery, migrations, upgrades, performance optimization, and operational support. In addition to Oracle database responsibilities, the role is expected to contribute to Linux administration activities, primarily in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, and collaborate closely with the Linux infrastructure team. The position combines operational support, project delivery, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. As a senior technical specialist, the successful candidate will act as an escalation point for complex issues, contribute to technical designs and drive standardization and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Oracle databases in enterprise production environments with focus on database lifecycle management, Data Guard, backup and recovery, migrations, and upgrades
• Perform Oracle database performance tuning, patching, and optimization
• Administer and troubleshoot Oracle Data Guard
• Plan and execute database migrations and version upgrades
• Manage RMAN, Data Pump, OPatch, and Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Manage database security, access controls, and operational compliance requirements
• Plan and execute backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery testing activities
• Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments and perform Linux patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, storage, networking, and system maintenance
• Troubleshoot across databases, operating system, storage, and network components
• Act as an escalation point for complex technical incidents and issues

About you

• Extensive hands-on experience administering Oracle databases in enterprise production environments
• Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, patching, backup and recovery
• Proven experience with Oracle Data Guard administration and troubleshooting
• Experience planning and executing database migrations and version upgrades
• Strong experience with RMAN, Data Pump, OPatch, and Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Advanced SQL skills and practical PL/SQL experience
• Strong administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (from RHEL 6 to RHEL 10)
• Practical experience with Linux patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, storage, networking, and system maintenance
• Strong Bash scripting skills
• Practical Python experience for administration and automation tasks
