Senior Oracle Database & Systems Engineer

🚀 SENIOR ORACLE DATABASE & SYSTEMS ENGINEER (3-6m contract w/conversion to FTE)

We’re looking for an experienced Oracle Database & Systems Engineer to join a team responsible for supporting and modernizing mission-critical enterprise technology.

This is more than a traditional DBA role.

You’ll work across Oracle databases, cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, architecture, security, performance, disaster recovery, and enterprise integrations —with a major opportunity to help drive a transition from on-premises environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) .

🔧 WHAT YOU’LL DO

Oracle Database & Engineering

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize enterprise Oracle databases and supporting infrastructure.

• Perform backup and recovery, patching, troubleshooting, capacity management, and performance tuning.

• Develop and support SQL and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, triggers, views, and other database components.

• Maintain database availability, security, reliability, and data integrity across environments.

☁️ Cloud & Infrastructure

• Help lead the migration of enterprise databases and related services from on-premises infrastructure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) .

• Participate in migration planning, architecture, testing, validation, cutover, troubleshooting, and post-migration optimization.

• Engineer and support database and system environments, infrastructure upgrades, hardware replacements, and recovery processes.

• Work with virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure technologies.

🏗️ Architecture & Data

• Design and support database architectures, data models, integrations, and enterprise data services.

• Apply principles of normalization, transactional integrity, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and alternative data models.

• Create technical documentation including entity-relationship diagrams, data-flow diagrams, architecture documentation, and solution designs.

🔐 Security, Performance & Reliability

• Monitor database and infrastructure resources and identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

• Manage database authentication, authorization, permissions, auditing, and environment controls.

• Support security reviews, patch management, risk mitigation, and compliance requirements.

• Contribute to business continuity, disaster recovery, backup/recovery, and overall system recoverability.

🔗 Enterprise Integration

• Support integrations involving GIS, enterprise data services, document management systems, metadata, and document-retrieval workflows.

• Partner with developers, GIS professionals, business stakeholders, contractors, and technical teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Troubleshoot production issues, support users, and contribute to system enhancements and modernization initiatives.

• Lead or contribute to projects involving database design, development, implementation, migration, and ongoing management.

🤖 AI & Modernization

• Explore practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for database administration, automation, monitoring, reporting, workflow improvement, and operational efficiency.

• Identify opportunities to use emerging technologies to modernize enterprise platforms and improve service delivery.

🎯 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3+ years of relevant professional experience in database administration, systems engineering, infrastructure, or a related discipline.

• Strong experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle .

• Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, database performance analysis, and troubleshooting.

• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure and multi-tier application environments.

• Knowledge of database security, authentication, authorization, auditing, and access controls.

• Experience with cloud computing concepts and enterprise infrastructure.
