Duties

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or PeopleSoft to ensure accurate employee compensation.
• Reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws by staying updated on tax regulations and labor standards affecting payroll.
• Handle payroll tax calculations, filings, and reporting in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, benefits administration, and employee data within HRIS platforms and accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial tools.
• Support benefits administration processes including deductions, garnishments, and non-profit accounting requirements when applicable.
• Collaborate with human resources and finance teams to verify employee information, process journal entries, and ensure data entry accuracy across multiple systems.
• Assist with audits related to payroll tax filings, benefits programs, or governmental reporting requirements.

Skills

• Extensive experience with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian or PeopleSoft.
• Strong knowledge of employment & labor law as well as payroll tax law to ensure compliance across all processes.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), accounting software (QuickBooks), and financial analysis tools for data management and reporting.
• Solid understanding of corporate accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits.
• Familiarity with time & attendance systems and HRIS platforms for accurate data entry and management.
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
• Excellent analysis skills for resolving discrepancies in accounts payable/receivable or payroll records.
• Experience supporting payroll processing within governmental or non-profit organizations is a plus.
