What they need
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to provide short-term, three-month support during a period of transition. The immediate priority is maintaining accurate, reliable payroll delivery. You'll also bring the technical knowledge and experience to support compliance, reporting, systems and practical process improvement.
About the Role
Working within the HR team, this is a hands-on assignment for someone who can quickly understand the environment, take ownership and provide confidence from day one.
You'll work across payroll processing, systems, compliance and reporting, while partnering with local and global teams to resolve issues and support ongoing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely payroll processing, including validation, corrections, deductions, reconciliations and compliance.
- Maintain payroll and time-and-attendance data, working with internal and global teams to resolve issues.
- Provide payroll expertise to support collective agreement requirements, remuneration changes and employment legislation.
- Support preparation for upcoming payroll-related legislative changes and associated system requirements.
- Produce payroll, headcount and related reporting, maintaining accurate information across enterprise systems.
- Support payroll-related compliance, audit activity and record management.
- Contribute to payroll systems and process improvements.
About You
You'll be an experienced payroll professional who can step into a complex environment and add value quickly. Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation.
- Sound knowledge of New Zealand payroll requirements, employment legislation and the Holidays Act.
- Experience working with complex payroll, time-and-attendance and enterprise payroll systems.
- Exposure to collective agreements or unionised environments would be advantageous.
- Experience with SAP, Workday, GlobalView or comparable enterprise systems would be useful.
- Strong reporting and analytical capability with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Most importantly, you'll be comfortable taking ownership, working through issues and providing a safe pair of hands from the outset.
Why Consider This Contract?
This is more than simply keeping the pay cycle moving. You'll have the opportunity to apply your payroll expertise across legislative change, compliance, systems and process improvement, while providing important continuity during a key period for the organisation.
Immediate or near-immediate availability is required for this role.
