  • Analyse learner performance and use assessment data to inform teaching.
  • Provide constructive feedback and targeted academic support.
  • Identify barriers to learning and collaborate with relevant academic support staff.
  • Prepare learners effectively for senior phase assessments and progression into FET.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a professional, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment.
  • Set clear expectations for behaviour, discipline, participation, and academic effort.
  • Encourage learner accountability, resilience, independence, and a growth mindset.
  • Build positive relationships with adolescents while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Parental and Community Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic progress, behaviour, and learner development.
  • Participate in parent meetings, school events, projects, and extracurricular activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to support learner success.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture and community.

Professional Development

  • Participate in school-based professional development and collaborative planning.
  • Engage in reflective practice and continuous improvement.
  • Keep abreast of curriculum changes, subject developments, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Contribute positively to academic planning and school improvement initiatives.

Senior Phase Teacher requirements are:

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) specialising in Senior Phase OR a relevant degree with a PGCE specialising in the appropriate teaching phase/subjects.
  • Current SACE registration and police clearance certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and Senior Phase assessment requirements.

  • Strong classroom management, planning, assessment, and differentiation skills.
  • Technologically literate with the ability to integrate digital tools into teaching and learning.
  • Able to inspire, challenge, and motivate adolescent learners.
  • Energetic, reliable, organised, and committed to academic excellence.
