This appointment is part of that growth and offers an experienced planner the chance to play a central role in a team that is increasingly important to how the consultancy serves its clients.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS

As Senior Planner, you will lead the planning and programme management on a portfolio of commercial and industrial projects. Schemes may include office developments, logistics and industrial facilities, and mixed-use commercial buildings, typically involving multiple stakeholders, phased delivery and demanding programmes.

Working client-side, you will provide independent programme advice, review and challenge contractor programmes, and give clients clear, reliable insight into progress, risk and delivery. You will work closely with project managers, cost consultants, design teams and contractors, and will often be the client’s trusted voice on programme matters.

The consultancy offers a collaborative, supportive environment where senior people are given responsibility early and encouraged to develop. You will gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction strategy to completion, along with the opportunity to mentor junior planners and shape the firm’s planning standards as the team grows.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead planning and programme management on a portfolio of commercial and industrial projects
• Develop master programmes, delivery strategies and phasing plans from feasibility through to completion
• Review, assess and challenge contractor programmes, including acceptance under NEC and other forms of contract
• Monitor progress, carry out critical path and delay analysis, and report on programme performance and risk
• Prepare clear, client-ready programme reports, dashboards and presentations
• Work closely with project managers, cost consultants, design teams and contractors to align programme, cost and risk
• Support schedule risk analysis and contribute to the assessment of extension of time and change events
• Mentor junior planners and help develop the consultancy’s planning standards and processes

WHAT YOU NEED

• Significant experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within construction, ideally with time spent in a consultancy or client-side role
• A strong track record on commercial and/or industrial projects
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6; experience with Asta Powerproject or MS Project is beneficial
• Strong understanding of critical path analysis, programme review and delay analysis
• Working knowledge of NEC and PWC forms of contract, particularly programme-related clauses
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to present to and advise senior client stakeholders
• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
