Senior Planning Engineer

About the role

This is a Planning Engineer position responsible for project scheduling, monitoring, and control across multiple disciplines including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning. The role involves developing and maintaining detailed project schedules, tracking progress against baselines, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and managing schedule recovery when delays occur.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and update various project schedules reflecting the schedules derived from disciplines and other project members
• Monitor and control the progress of the overall project schedule and the schedules of each discipline (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning)
• Decide project WBS and progress measurements in cooperation with each discipline and set up data acquisition and monitoring systems
• Monitor and control the project progress, and report to Project Controller
• Prepare scheduled progress reports (actual/forecast) and attend project schedule meetings with relevant parties within the company and outside parties
• Prepare progress performance reports in accordance with the project progress measurement procedure as agreed with the client
• Monitor the material status reports prepared by the procurement group, describing the status of order placements, fabrication/manufacturing, factory inspection, shipment, transportation, and customs clearance of equipment and materials
• Assist relevant parties of the project to plan and take remedial actions for recovery when delivery delay is detected or anticipated
• Report immediately any delays detected or anticipated to Project Controller and assist in investigating causes and planning remedial actions
• Evaluate the impact for client requests for changes and/or amending contract on the project schedules and report to Project Controller

About you

• Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant engineering disciplines
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in project planning, project control, scheduling, or project management
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Planning Engineer, Project Planner, Schedule Controller, Project Control Engineer, or similar position, preferably within plant, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or engineering projects
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with basic knowledge of civil, structural, architectural, and building works
• Able to understand engineering drawings, project specifications, work sequences, and construction/installation activities
• Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling, including developing project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), activity sequencing, resource loading, progress measurement, baseline management, and schedule updates
• Good understanding of Plant Project Management, including: Project Scope Management, Schedule & Time Management, Cost & Budget Control, Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC), Resource Management, Procurement & Material Coordination, Documentation Management, Risk Management, Information & Communication Management, Project Progress Monitoring and Reporting
• Proficient in Microsoft Project and familiar with other project planning/scheduling or project control tools
• Able to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor critical paths, identify schedule deviations, and prepare recovery plans
