Senior Planning Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Planning Engineer will take ownership of the planning and scheduling function across our engineering and construction projects, combining strong technical construction knowledge with advanced programme management expertise. The role involves developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring progress against baseline, identifying and mitigating delays, and providing accurate reporting and forecasting to project leadership and clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules in Primavera P6, from tender stage through to project close-out.
• Prepare baseline programmes, resource- and cost-loaded schedules, and ensure alignment with contractual milestones.
• Monitor and report on project progress, identifying variances against baseline and recommending recovery measures.
• Lead the preparation of look-ahead programmes, ensuring alignment between design, procurement, and site execution activities.
• Conduct schedule risk analysis and delay analysis, and support the preparation of extension-of-time (EOT) claims where required.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineering, procurement, and site teams to gather progress data and update the master schedule.
• Prepare regular progress reports, S-curves, and dashboards for internal management and client reporting.
• Review subcontractor programmes for consistency with the overall project schedule and flag conflicts or risks.
• Support cost-control and earned-value management processes by providing accurate progress and productivity data.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior planning staff, and support wider team development.
• Ensure all planning documentation is maintained accurately and complies with company procedures and contractual requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8–12 years of planning/scheduling experience, including required UAE experience.
• Proven experience planning civil, infrastructure, or MEP construction projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, with strong working knowledge of MS Project and MS Excel.
• Demonstrated experience with delay analysis, EOT claims, and earned-value management is an advantage.
• Immediate availability is an advantage.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex schedules and identify critical-path risks.
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and scheduling/reporting tools.
• Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, and technical specifications.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate progress clearly to management and clients.
• Effective communication and coordination skills across engineering, procurement, and site functions.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational and time-management skills.
