JOB DESCRIPTION – SALES ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities

• Handle direct sales of Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Reactors, Columns, and heavy fabricated equipment.
• Generate, develop, and convert enquiries from EPC contractors, consultants, licensors, and end-user clients.
• Achieve annual sales targets and maintain a strong order pipeline.
• Lead commercial negotiations and successfully close high-value industrial contracts.

Techno-Commercial & Engineering Interface

• Read and interpret datasheets, P&IDs, RFQs, technical specifications, and contracts.
• Prepare and own complete techno-commercial proposals and quotations.
• Perform detailed costing, pricing, margin analysis, and commercial evaluation.
• Understand key cost drivers including raw material, fabrication hours, welding, NDT, PWHT, testing, logistics, and margins.
• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Planning, Production, Procurement, and Finance for proposal and order execution.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, technical discussions, and contract negotiations.

Codes & Standards

• Working knowledge of ASME, TEMA, API, and other applicable industry standards.
• Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into commercially viable proposals.

Client & Market Management

• Develop and maintain relationships with EPCs, consultants, licensors, and industrial end users.
• Handle domestic as well as international clients and overseas markets.
• Conduct client visits, business meetings, exhibitions, seminars, and technical presentations.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand existing accounts.

Key Performance Indicators

• Annual sales target vs. achievement.
• Order book value and profitability.
• Enquiry-to-order conversion ratio.
• Value of largest order successfully closed.
• Growth of EPC and end-user accounts.
• New market and customer development.

Candidate Profile – Mandatory

• Proven experience in direct sales of heavy engineering / process equipment.
• Strong experience in Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Reactors, Columns, or similar fabricated equipment.
• Experience in preparing and owning techno-commercial proposals.
• Ability to read and understand datasheets, P&IDs, RFQs, and technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of ASME / TEMA / API codes and standards.
• Strong understanding of costing, pricing, negotiation, and commercial closure.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and closing high-value orders.
• Established relationships with EPC contractors, consultants, licensors, and industrial buyers.
• Exposure to international clients / export markets will be preferred.

Education

• B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical / Chemical / Production Engineering
• MBA / PGDM – Marketing / International Business preferred.
• Relevant experience in heavy engineering / process equipment / fabrication industry will be highly preferred.
