Senior Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud architecture solutions using services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, VMware, and Rackspace to meet business needs for scalability, security, and reliability.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef to automate deployment processes across multiple environments.
• Manage IT infrastructure components including virtualized environments with VMware, Docker containers, Kubernetes clusters, and Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs).
• Build and optimize distributed systems architecture utilizing microservices, RESTful APIs, web services, NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra, and traditional SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Implement cloud management strategies for public clouds including AWS and Azure while ensuring system hardening and security best practices.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps automation practices using CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Git, PowerShell, Bash scripting, and other tools to streamline software deployment cycles.
• Oversee identity and access management (IAM) solutions to secure cloud resources and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Monitor system performance metrics; troubleshoot issues related to virtualization, networking (VPNs), scalability challenges; and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
• Lead efforts in system hardening, security audits, disaster recovery planning, and compliance initiatives within cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure using AWS, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, VMware, or Rackspace.
• Strong expertise in virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep understanding of Service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, web services development, and SaaS applications.
• Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Bash (Unix shell), PowerShell; experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Solid knowledge of operating systems including Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server environments.
• Familiarity with database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle; NoSQL databases; T-SQL; and SQL query optimization.
• Experience managing IT infrastructure at scale with a focus on automation for deployment processes within Agile SDLC frameworks.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles including IAM solutions; system hardening; VPNs; network security protocols; and compliance standards.
• Background in computer science or related fields with a focus on distributed systems engineering or cloud architecture design.

Pay: $44.50 - $54.50 per hour
