Building AI agents that work across client accounts brings some interesting engineering problems. Where can they run code? What can they access? How do you keep everything reliable as more customers and businesses join the platform? Will they become sapient and start asking for days off?

This wealth management startup is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to own the infrastructure, backend systems and developer tooling behind those agents. It has raised $64M in Series A funding and has over $1B in client assets under management.

You’ll work in a small engineering team, building the systems your colleagues use to develop, deploy and run the product, including the controls needed when software handles financial data.

What you’ll build

• Core backend services, APIs, data stores and pipelines.
• Sandboxed environments where agents can run code with appropriate isolation and access controls.
• Cloud infrastructure, automated deployments and internal tools that make engineers’ lives easier.
• Data infrastructure and query improvements to keep performance and costs under control.
• Systems to bring acquired businesses onto the platform as the company grows.

What you’ll bring

• You’ll have 5+ years in backend, platform or infrastructure engineering, including experience building and owning internal systems or developer tools at a growing startup. (you love the chaos!)
• You should be comfortable designing backend systems and working with cloud infrastructure, containers and automated deployments.
• Work involving secure code execution, sandboxing, data warehousing, query optimisation or AI agent infrastructure would be extra nice.
• Enthusiasm for difficult engineering problems!

The stack: Python, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, data pipelines, REST APIs and LLM agent frameworks.

The practical bits

• Onsite in New York.
• $150K–$250K base, plus equity and bonus.
