Job Title: Head, Investment Management

Location: Lagos Nigeria

Position Overview:|

The Head of Investment Management will lead the investment management function within the asset management company, overseeing both Investment Research and Portfolio Management teams. This role will be responsible for formulating and implementing investment strategies, managing and growing portfolios, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the investment research process. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in portfolio management, a strong understanding of market research, and a proven ability to lead teams to deliver outstanding investment performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement investment strategies that align with the clients’ and products objectives, adhering to regulatory and operational guidelines, ensuring diversification, risk management, and superior risk-adjusted returns.
• Oversee the end-to-end portfolio management process including asset allocation, security selection, rebalancing, and performance attribution across multi-asset portfolios.
• Lead both the Portfolio Management and Investment Research teams to ensure robust, data-driven research supports investment decisions, asset allocation models, and strategy formulation.
• Supervise the generation of global and domestic markets outlook, macroeconomic reviews, and investment commentaries to guide internal decisions and enhance client communication.
• Analyze portfolio performance in the context of market dynamics, client expectations, and benchmarks, making timely adjustments to preserve alpha and mitigate risks.
• Maintain a deep understanding of macroeconomic trends, regulatory shifts, and market opportunities, translating these insights into actionable strategies.
• Deliver presentations at Investment Committee meetings, providing input on portfolio positioning, investment rationale, and performance analysis.
• Drive innovation in strategy design, product development, and process improvements that strengthen portfolio performance and contribute to AUM growth.
• Collaborate with client-facing teams to align investment strategies with client expectations and support business development efforts through market insights and presentations.
• Coach investment professionals across research and portfolio teams, fostering a highperformance culture and ensuring that technical work supports strategy execution.

Key Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Upper minimum) in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Actuarial Science, or other quantitative fields.
• Postgraduate degree (e.g., MBA, MSc Finance) is preferred.
• CFA Charterholder is a strong advantage.

Experience:

• 10+ years in asset management or investment-related roles, including: (i) Direct experience managing equity and fixed income portfolios. (ii) Exposure to multi-asset strategies and portfolio construction for HNIs and institutional investors.
• Proven leadership in a performance-driven investment environment.

Technical Skills:

• Strong analytical and valuation skills.
• Deep understanding of Financial markets, including Sub-Saharan Africa’s capital markets, especially Nigeria.
• Familiarity with investment tools: Bloomberg, FactSet, Excel modelling and portfolio tools.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (SEC Nigeria, NGX etc)
