Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL & AI Automation Engineer to support enterprise database modernization initiatives, PostgreSQL development, migration activities, and AI-driven engineering automation. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, schema migrations, database security, and developer productivity automation using GitHub Copilot and AI agents. This role was derived from responsibilities including PostgreSQL engineering, migration automation, access provisioning, and custom AI tooling development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL functions, queries, and database objects.
• Lead schema migration and database modernization efforts.
• Automate database code reviews, DDL generation, migration validation, and access provisioning.
• Build and maintain GitHub Copilot agents, AI skills, and engineering productivity solutions.
• Implement database security controls, role-based access management, and sensitive data governance.
• Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, SQL, and scripting frameworks.
• Collaborate with architects, DBAs, application teams, and security stakeholders to deliver scalable database solutions.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in Database Engineering or Software Engineering.
• Strong PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL development expertise.
• Experience with database migration, performance tuning, indexing, JSONB, and schema design.
• Hands-on experience with Python, PowerShell, Git, CI/CD, and automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, AI-assisted development, prompt engineering, or custom AI agents.
• Knowledge of database security, GRANT management, PII/NPI controls, and governance processes.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience migrating from Yuga byteDB or other distributed databases to PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to banking/financial services environments.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub integrations, and developer productivity tooling.
• Knowledge of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Natural Language to SQL solutions.
