Senior PostgreSQL DBA

Role Description The Senior PostgreSQL DBA will manage, optimize, and support PostgreSQL databases in a production environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity. This full-time, on-site role is based in Jakarta and involves working closely with engineering, application, and infrastructure teams to design and implement robust database solutions. Daily responsibilities include monitoring database health, tuning queries and indexes, managing backups and recovery plans, configuring and maintaining replication, and troubleshooting complex database issues. The role also includes planning and executing database upgrades and migrations, implementing security best practices, and preparing documentation and operational runbooks. The Senior PostgreSQL DBA will contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior team members, and support incident response and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 17 Years experienced in DBA
• Strong PostgreSQL Database Administration skills, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/restore, and security management.
• Experience in Database Design and modeling, including normalization, indexing strategies, and schema optimization for high-performance transactional systems.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving database issues, with hands-on Troubleshooting experience in production environments.
• Solid understanding of relational Databases concepts, SQL, and query optimization, ideally with exposure to multiple RDBMS platforms.
• Practical experience configuring and monitoring Replication (e.g., streaming replication, failover, clustering) for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting for automation of database operations and maintenance tasks.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, pg_stat_statements, or similar) to track performance and capacity.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, version control (e.g., Git), and integrating database changes into modern DevOps workflows.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior experience in a senior or lead DBA role and exposure to large-scale, mission-critical systems is highly beneficial.
