Senior PostgreSQL DBA / Database Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Senior PostgreSQL DBA with strong expertise in PostgreSQL internals, performance tuning, high availability, automation, Linux, and cloud platforms. Exposure to YugabyteDB and/or MongoDB is desirable. The ideal candidate should be capable of managing large-scale production databases, driving automation, and troubleshooting complex performance and availability issues.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and support PostgreSQL databases in production environments.

Manage database installation, upgrades, migrations, patching, and capacity planning.

Design and maintain HA/DR solutions using PostgreSQL replication technologies.

Troubleshoot database performance, locking, blocking, replication, and storage issues.

Perform query tuning, index optimization, vacuum tuning, and database health monitoring.

Develop automation for routine DBA tasks using Shell/Python scripting.

Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps teams.

Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and operational improvements.

Required Skills

PostgreSQL (Must Have)

Indexing & Partitioning

Locking & Concurrency

Streaming & Logical Replication

Pg Bouncer Recovery (pg Back Rest preferred)

PgBouncer

Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting

Linux & Automation

Strong Linux skills (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)

Shell Scripting (Mandatory)

Python automation experience preferred

Process, memory, storage, and network troubleshooting

Cloud & DevOps

Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP

Git and CI/CD fundamentals

Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes preferred

Infrastructure automation and monitoring practices.
