Senior Power BI Developer

About this role

As a Senior Power BI Developer, you will play a key role in transforming complex business data into actionable insights through scalable reporting and analytics solutions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and technical teams to design, develop, and optimize Power BI solutions that support strategic decision-making. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, business understanding, and a passion for data visualization and analytics.

A typical day might include the following activities

• Gather and analyze business reporting requirements from stakeholders across multiple departments.
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
• Create and optimize complex data models to support scalable analytics and reporting solutions.
• Develop DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs to address business needs.
• Connect, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources using Power Query and ETL processes.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across reporting solutions.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and BI teams to design and implement efficient data pipelines and reporting architectures.
• Analyze performance issues and optimize datasets, reports, and dashboards to improve user experience.
• Support business users in understanding reporting capabilities and deriving insights from data.
• Participate in requirements workshops, solution design sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
• Define and implement reporting standards, best practices, and governance processes.
• Maintain technical documentation and reporting specifications.
• Support UAT activities and validate reporting outputs against business requirements.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior BI developers and analysts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to data analytics, reporting, and visualization.

To ensure success, you need the following skills

• 5+ years of experience developing Business Intelligence and reporting solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong English
• French is considered a plus
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and data modeling concepts.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple sources.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and BI best practices.
• Experience designing executive dashboards, operational reporting, and KPI frameworks.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable reporting solutions.
• Experience optimizing Power BI performance and troubleshooting reporting issues.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
