SENIOR POWER BI / BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPER

Location: Pakistan / Remote | Full-Time | Experience: 7+ to 8+ Years

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Power BI / Business Intelligence Developer to lead the design and delivery of enterprise BI and analytics solutions. This role requires strong hands-on Power BI expertise combined with the ability to understand data architecture, business requirements, and the complete BI lifecycle. The ideal candidate can own solutions end-to-end, work directly with stakeholders, solve complex data and performance challenges, and guide other BI professionals. Candidates with a strong Data Engineering background are particularly encouraged to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the end-to-end design, development, deployment, and support of Power BI and enterprise BI solutions.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define KPIs, reporting requirements, analytical use cases, and scalable solution designs.
• Develop advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, DAX measures, time intelligence, drill-throughs, tooltips, bookmarks, and interactive analytics.
• Design and implement robust dimensional data models, including star/snowflake schemas, relationships, hierarchies, reusable measures, and business logic.
• Use SQL and Power Query/M for complex data extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, and preparation.
• Work closely with Data Engineers and Architects on ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, lakes/lakehouses, APIs, and cloud data platforms.
• Manage Power BI Service environments including workspaces, semantic models, dataflows, gateways, refreshes, deployment pipelines, and production releases.
• Implement and maintain security and governance practices, including Row-Level Security (RLS), access controls, documentation, and BI standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance issues across DAX, queries, data models, refresh processes, and source systems.
• Review BI solutions for quality, scalability, usability, and maintainability; establish development standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior and mid-level BI developers and provide technical guidance across BI initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ to 8+ years of professional experience in Business Intelligence, BI Development, Data Analytics, or a related field, with significant Power BI experience.
• Advanced hands-on expertise in Power BI, DAX, Power Query/M, and SQL.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, semantic models, and BI architecture.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions using multiple data sources.
• Strong understanding of Power BI Service, deployment, security, refresh, governance, and production support.
• Ability to independently lead technical delivery while communicating effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

PREFERRED: DATA ENGINEERING BACKGROUND

We strongly encourage Data Engineers who have developed deep Power BI and analytics expertise to apply. Experience with ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data warehousing, data quality, and modern cloud data platforms is highly valued, including:

• Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Python/PySpark, API-based data integration, CI/CD, source control, or data governance.

NICE TO HAVE

• PL-300 or equivalent Power BI certification/experience.
• Power BI Premium, Microsoft Fabric, deployment pipelines, paginated reports, or enterprise-scale BI implementations.
• Exposure to AI/ML, advanced analytics, or data-intensive industries such as Energy, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Utilities, or Financial Services.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a senior professional who can think beyond dashboards and understand the complete data journey: Source → Ingestion → Transformation → Data Model → Semantic Layer → BI → Insights. You should be able to identify whether a business reporting challenge originates in visualization, modeling, data quality, pipelines, or architecture—and lead the solution accordingly.
