What they need
North Co Recruitment are working with a newly launched, insurtech business to appoint a Senior Pricing Analyst into their pricing team. With no legacy systems or inherited processes in the way, this is a chance to build best-in-class machine learning models in open-source Python, use AI tools to move faster than a traditional pricing team ever could, and see your work trading on the price comparison sites within a day.
What you’ll do
- Build, deploy and monitor machine learning pricing models across claims cost, market price and customer behaviour.
- Push the modelling beyond a standard GBM core, testing advanced ML techniques where they genuinely improve performance.
- Use AI tools day to day to build, automate and scale what a small team can deliver.
- Explore new datasets and engineer features that sharpen predictive power and give the business an edge.
- Contribute to daily trading decisions, with changes often live the same afternoon and results visible the next day.
- Turn predictive gains into profitable growth, working closely with underwriting, claims, fraud and technology, with Consumer Duty built in from the start.
What we’re looking for
- Pricing or data science experience in UK private motor or home insurance at Senior Analyst level, or ready to take that step.
- Hands-on experience building market price or claims cost models using GBMs and GLMs, with an appetite for more advanced machine learning.
- Strong Python and SQL, with comfort using git and a cloud environment such as AWS.
- A proven track record of building with AI, and ideas for how it can change the way pricing is done.
- Working knowledge of the FCA pricing rules and Consumer Duty requirements.
- Experience of PCW trading, Radar or automated MI would be useful, though Radar can be learned in the role.
- A pragmatic, test-and-learn approach - getting a strong model live and measuring it rather than chasing a perfect one.
Salary: Up to £90,000 base, plus discretionary bonus
Location: Remote or Hybrid, London Based.
