Senior Principal Data Engineer-Data Architecture & Cloud Data Platform

Job Title: Senior Principal Data Engineer
Location: Pune / Chennai (Hybrid)

Client is looking for an experienced Senior Principal Data Engineer to provide technical leadership in designing scalable data platforms and driving complex, cross-team initiatives for their cybersecurity platform. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in data engineering, cloud platforms, data architecture, and modern data technologies, along with the ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of scalable data engineering solutions across multiple domains.
• Drive complex cross-team projects and define technical strategies with engineering leadership.
• Own and enhance critical data platforms, services, and engineering practices.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve data capabilities.
• Build and optimize data pipelines, data warehouses, and real-time processing systems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to solve complex data challenges.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to coding standards, reviews, technical documentation, and best practices.
• Ensure quality engineering practices through code reviews, CI/CD processes, and production deployments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 610 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering within large-scale, high-volume environments.
• Strong expertise in SQL and Python (expert in one and strong understanding of the other).
• Extensive experience with Snowflake architecture, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Strong experience in Kimball dimensional modeling, data warehouses, and star schema architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure for data platforms.
• Experience with DBT or SQL Mesh for data transformation workflows.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitFlow/Trunk-based development, and data governance.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, event-driven architectures, and real-time analytics pipelines.
• Knowledge of Lakehouse architecture, Apache Iceberg, and modern data platforms.
• Understanding of data security, GDPR, and PCI-DSS compliance requirements.
• Ability to independently architect solutions and drive technical initiatives.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in cybersecurity, fintech, ad-tech, or other high-volume data environments.
• Experience with subscription analytics, cohort analysis, LTV calculations, churn prediction, or behavioral analytics.
• Experience building executive reporting and complex analytics solutions.
