Senior Process Engineer - Compression & Production Facilities

PICO Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Process Engineer – Downstream Oil & Gas to support the design, optimization, operation, and continuous improvement of oil and gas processing and production facilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with process engineering, gas compression systems, production facilities, engineering documentation, and facility optimization. This position will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance while maintaining accurate engineering records and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering

• Monitor and optimize facility performance, production processes, and equipment efficiency.
• Perform process calculations, simulations, equipment evaluations, and troubleshooting.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, production capacity, and operational efficiency.
• Support process design modifications, facility upgrades, and debottlenecking initiatives.
• Analyze operating data and recommend process and equipment improvements.

Engineering Documentation

Develop, review, update, and maintain engineering and facility documentation, including:

• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Equipment and Asset Registers
• CAD Drawings
• Electrical Single-Line Diagrams
• Operating Procedures
• Technical Reports and Engineering Records

Ensure engineering drawings, records, and technical documentation remain accurate, current, and compliant with company standards.

Gas Compression & Production Facilities

• Provide technical support for gas compression systems, hydrocarbon production facilities, and associated process equipment.
• Evaluate compressor and production system performance and recommend operational improvements.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment performance issues in coordination with Operations and Maintenance.
• Support facility startups, shutdowns, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Participate in production optimization, facility expansion, and capacity improvement projects.

Engineering & Project Support

• Assist with engineering studies, facility modifications, brownfield projects, and capital improvement projects.
• Review vendor drawings, technical specifications, equipment data, and engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate technical activities with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, HSE, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support equipment selection and technical evaluations.
• Participate in Management of Change (MOC) activities and ensure associated engineering documentation is properly updated.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote compliance with company HSE policies, procedures, and applicable industry standards.
• Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments, process safety reviews, and other safety initiatives.
• Identify potential process and operational risks and recommend appropriate engineering controls.
• Ensure engineering solutions meet applicable regulatory, safety, and company requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in oil & gas processing, production, or downstream facilities.
• Demonstrated experience working with gas compression systems and hydrocarbon production/process facilities.
• Strong understanding of process engineering principles, process equipment, and facility operations.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing process and production systems.
• Ability to interpret, review, and develop P&IDs, PFDs, engineering drawings, and process documentation.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with engineering design and CAD software.
• Familiarity with Aspen HYSYS or similar process simulation software.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and electrical documentation.
• Experience with compressors and associated equipment used in natural gas applications.
• Previous involvement in brownfield modifications, facility upgrades, commissioning, startups, and capacity expansion projects.
• Experience supporting Management of Change (MOC) and process safety activities.
