Senior Procurement Engineer

• Develop and execute category, sourcing, and supplier strategies aligned with business growth, operational excellence, and project delivery objectives.
• Lead complex sourcing initiatives, commercial negotiations, and contract discussions to achieve best-in-class cost, quality, delivery, and risk outcomes.
• Drive value engineering, should-cost analysis, and total cost of ownership optimization in collaboration with Sales, Engineering and Project team and other Operations teams.
• Identify, qualify, and develop strategic suppliers while fostering long-term partnerships that support innovation, supply continuity, and performance improvement.
• Proactively assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, geopolitical challenges, market volatility, and supplier performance issues.
• Provide procurement leadership during project execution, ensuring critical materials and services are sourced and delivered in accordance with project schedules, technical requirements, and budget targets.
• Influence supplier involvement in early project phases to improve design-for-procurement decisions, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance execution efficiency.
• Monitor market intelligence, industry trends, and global supply dynamics to identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier diversification, and competitive advantage.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, procurement transformation programs, and the implementation of best practices across sourcing and supply chain processes.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business priorities and ensure successful project and operational outcomes. Strategic Sourcing
• Identify and develop qualified best-fit suppliers for various demands of engineered equipment, materials, subcontracting need for Sulzer packages
• Conduct market research, TCO analysis (within Sulzer Scope coverage), and supply chain risk assessments.
• Support sourcing initiatives on product line development and source for the most cost effective sources.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and supplier capabilities, lesson learns to support team innovation Vendor Management
• Evaluate and assess suppliers' technical capability & suitability to Sulzer’s business needs while working with the pre-qualification/on-boarding team
• Involved in supplier performance and driving corrective actions where needed.
• Maintain accurate supplier records (credentials, ISO, Financial, audit records, performance in Sulzer digital dashboard, and other files.
• Support Quality team in the corrective actions for in case of NCR and tracking of COPQ

Project Procurement

• Will be working with execution team such as Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Workshop to meet project procurement needs and timelines.
• Provide regular procurement status reports, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
• Manage end-to-end procurement cycle including RFQ’s, commercial bid evaluations, conducting KOM, delivery tracking, change order and contract management
• Lead negotiations to achieve competitive pricing, favorable terms, while aligned to the total cost of ownership (within Sulzer scope).
• Issue purchase orders, monitor order progress for buy outs, work with Quality and Project Manager to ensure the Procurement rights

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure that documentation is filed and accessible. Ensure traceable support in SAP during PO Creation
• Prepare procurement status reports for internal tracking and report to Head of Procurement for progress status reviews.
• Maintain accurate sourcing status records and ensure that documentation is filed and accessible.
• Prepare sourcing reports for monthly progress including vendor workload, market/sourcing highlights and status of sourcing activities and report to Head of Procurement for progress status reviews.
• Continuous updates in Digital Procurement for Vendor Profiles Compliance, Sustainability & Cost Optimization:
• Ensure full adherence to company policies, SCM Policies, and ethical sourcing standards with zero breach.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost control, and supplier collaboration.
• Support implementation and optimization of digital tools, and workflows.
• Contribute to value engineering / design-to-cost efforts by proposing alternative suppliers, designs, or materials promoting better profitability
• Ensure Non-Disclosure Agreement, ESG & Code of Business Conduct are agreed, signed and uploaded in Digital Procurement for involved vendors, seeking Regional or Global Support (Finance, Legal, Auditor) when needed
• Ensure promotion of Sulzer Sustainability & ESG Policies

Qualifications

• 5–10 years proven procurement experience in EPC (preferred), technology provider, skid or module fabricators, manufacturing, engineering, or related industries.
• Strong background in procuring engineered equipment (Static, Rotating, Piping, E&I, Structural, and Sub contracting), technical materials, or project packages.
• Solid understanding of the procurement lifecycle, bid evaluation, contract terms, and strong critical thinking capability.
• Proven experience in negotiation, supplier management, and technical/commercial bid analysis.
• Familiarity with project procurement processes for long lead and critical path items.
• Strong commercial judgment, including cost analysis and total cost of ownership (TCO) assessment.
• International projects exposure is a plus

Technical Skills

• Basic understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and equipment data sheets is a plus.
• Knowledge of EPC project execution is a plus.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
• Proficiency in English, as there is a high likelihood of interfacing with multinational colleagues across global Sulzer organization. Soft Skills
