Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role

You'll play a key role in improving supplier performance, reducing costs and providing practical procurement insights to operational teams. This is a highly analytical role requiring advanced Excel skills, strong commercial judgement and the confidence to question existing spending patterns. Working alongside the Lead Procurement Manager, you'll review tenders, analyse supplier agreements and uncover savings across significant spend categories—including fuel, building maintenance and nationwide supplier expenditure.

Key responsibilities

• Managing tender reviews and evaluating RFP outcomes
• Conducting detailed spend analysis and supplier benchmarking
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and ways to reduce operational downtime
• Reviewing supplier contracts, commercial terms and unusual or high-risk clauses
• Monitoring supplier performance and flagging irregularities or non-compliance
• Producing clear procurement reports and recommendations
• Supporting operational teams with practical, commercially focused insights
• Challenging supplier expenditure and helping improve procurement processes

About you

• At least five years' hands-on procurement experience
• Strong tendering, RFP and supplier evaluation experience
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills
• Confidence interpreting supplier contracts and commercial terms
• Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook and written communication skills
• High attention to detail and sound commercial judgement
• A proactive approach to identifying savings and process improvements
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across the business
