You’ll join a highly collaborative product engineering team building complex software used within heavily regulated industries. The systems need to be secure, reliable, scalable, and designed with long-term maintainability in mind.

We're looking for a Senior Product Engineer with a strong backend engineering background who is comfortable taking ownership across the stack when needed.

The engineering challenges are predominantly backend focused, spanning architecture, APIs, data modelling, system performance, and platform reliability. However, this isn't a role where you'll be confined to one part of the application. You'll have the flexibility to work across different areas of the product, contributing wherever your expertise can make the biggest impact.

You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams to design and deliver software that operates at enterprise scale while maintaining the speed and agility of a smaller team.

This is a position where engineering quality genuinely matters. Clean architecture, performance, testing, and thoughtful design are all highly valued, alongside the ability to understand product requirements and turn complex challenges into effective solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and building scalable, reliable backend systems
• Taking ownership of key product areas across the full software lifecycle
• Working across the stack where needed to deliver complete product solutions
• Solving complex challenges around performance, scalability, and security
• Collaborating closely with Product and DevOps to shape technical direction
• Contributing to architecture and system design decisions
• Improving and modernising existing systems and functionality
• Writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code
• Balancing engineering quality with practical product delivery
• Helping shape a sustainable, high-performing engineering environment

What We're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience in backend software engineering
• A track record of building and maintaining complex applications at scale
• Solid understanding of software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices
• Experience designing APIs, working with relational databases, and building reliable services
• An understanding of modern architectural approaches such as DDD or CQRS
• A product-focused mindset, with the ability to think beyond individual technical tasks
• The flexibility and willingness to contribute across the stack when required
• Confidence working with unfamiliar technologies and adapting to different technical environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working in product-led engineering environments

Engineers who have experienced both fast-moving startups or scaleups and more structured enterprise environments are likely to thrive here, as the role combines elements of both.
