Sr. Production Underwriter

Location: Remote – DFW, Denver, New Jersey, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia

Salary: $135,000–$185,000

About the Role

As a Sr. Production Underwriter, you’ll manage complex new and renewal business within an assigned territory, balancing thoughtful risk selection, pricing, terms, and contractual considerations to build a profitable portfolio. You’ll also play a key role in business development, agency relationships, market intelligence, and mentoring, while partnering closely with internal teams to deliver strong results.

Your Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex new and renewal business within delegated authority and regulatory guidelines
• Evaluate exposures, risk controls, pricing, terms, conditions, and contractual considerations
• Manage and grow a profitable book of business while achieving premium and production goals
• Develop new business through prospecting, agency marketing, and in-person and virtual sales calls
• Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, agencies, and insureds
• Represent the organization in the marketplace and communicate capabilities across underwriting, risk control, and claims
• Monitor market trends, agency opportunities, and competitive activity and provide insights to leadership
• Collaborate with Sales & Distribution, Risk Control, Claims, Legal, Underwriting Support, and other internal partners
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for complex underwriting questions and escalated issues
• Mentor, coach, and train team members
• Contribute to corporate initiatives, field underwriting projects, and technical training development

Requirements

• 5+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience preferred
• Strong risk evaluation and insurance contract knowledge
• Proven ability to build and grow a profitable book of business
• Strong agency relationship management and sales skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to make sound underwriting decisions and execute territory strategies
• Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, and training skills
• Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and effective dates
• Four-year college degree preferred
• AU, CIC, and/or CPCU designation completed or in progress preferred
