Resource & Capacity Planning Lead – Digital & Data 6-month contract | Auckland | September start
We’re looking for an experienced Programme Scheduler to establish and embed a strong capacity planning practice across a large Digital & Data portfolio within an established business unit, with competing deliverables. This is not a Project Manager role. This is a people-focused resource and capacity planning role. It’s about understanding the capability, capacity and skills across the portfolio, matching the right people to the right work, and helping teams get the best from their resources.
The roleYou’ll work closely with Project Managers and Digital & Data leaders to establish and embed a consistent resource and capacity planning practice by:
- Understanding the skills, capability and availability of people across the portfolio
- Matching resource capability to current and future project demand
- Helping ensure people are being used effectively and sustainably
- Identifying capacity gaps, bottlenecks and over-allocation early
- Working with PMs to understand and challenge future resource requirements
- Balancing competing priorities across multiple projects and programmes
- Building a clear forward view of demand versus capacity
- Establishing practical processes, governance and reporting
- Supporting effective use of Float for resource and capacity planning
What we’re looking for:
You’ll have demonstrated experience where resource and capacity planning has been a core part of your role - across a technology, digital or transformation portfolio.
You will have been a Programme Coordinator / Resource Capacity planner / Senior Programme Scheduler.
You’ll bring:
- Strong portfolio-level resource and capacity planning experience
- Experience translating delivery plans and roadmaps into resource demand
- Ability to assess demand against available people, skills and capacity
- Strong forecasting and resource allocation capability
- Experience establishing or improving resource management processes
- Confidence challenging senior Project Managers and stakeholders
- Strong governance, reporting and analytical skills
- Experience with resource planning or PPM tools (Float experience would be advantageous)
This role will suit someone who can bring structure, discipline and forward visibility to a complex delivery environment.
Apply now, if you are available immediately in Auckland, and have the expertise and relevant experience we are looking for.
