Senior Programmer (PHP)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior PHP Developer with strong expertise in PHP, MySQL, and web application development to join our software development team.

The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently, solving complex technical challenges, optimising application performance, and providing technical guidance to junior developers. Knowledge of React.js and Python will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using PHP and MySQL.
• Develop and maintain backend systems, RESTful APIs, and third-party system integrations.
• Design, develop, and optimise MySQL databases, including queries, indexes, and database structures.
• Develop responsive web interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
• Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application errors, performance issues, and production incidents.
• Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards and development best practices.
• Optimise application performance, database queries, and system scalability.
• Manage source code using Git and follow proper version control practices.
• Support application deployment, system maintenance, enhancements, and production troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to deliver projects within agreed timelines.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior developers.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, API documentation, and system implementation notes.
• Participate in technical discussions and recommend suitable technologies and solutions to improve system performance and maintainability.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 4**-5 years of hands-on experience in PHP web application development**.
• Strong knowledge of PHP programming and MySQL database management.
• Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or similar frameworks.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Added Advantages

• Knowledge or experience in React.js for frontend development.
• Knowledge or experience in Python for scripting, automation, backend development, or system integration.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
• Familiarity with Linux servers, Apache, Nginx, and web hosting environments.
• Experience integrating payment gateways, external APIs, and third-party systems.
• Experience developing enterprise applications such as CRM, HRM, ERP, and management information systems.
• Experience working in an Agile or Scrum development environment.
• Previous experience leading development tasks or mentoring junior programmers.
