Senior Project Development Manager

About this opportunity

A China-backed new-energy group is building solar and BESS plants in Thailand and Malaysia to supply green power to its data-centre operations in the region. It is expanding its Thailand development team and is looking for a senior project development manager.

This position is managed by Chongqing Wangyun Zhuyue Human Resources Services Co., Ltd. (JIN Talent). We are recruiting on behalf of the employer; the company name will be shared at the interview stage.

The role

Based in Thailand, you will originate and take solar and BESS projects from greenfield through to a bankable, financing-ready investment:

• Market and policy work: track Thai energy policy, the RPS quota scheme and tax incentives; assess wind resources in the northeast and solar resources in the central region; map out development strategy with EGAT, MEA and PEA

• Full-cycle development: site selection, land title verification and filing, engagement with DEDE, grid-connection approvals, and PPA negotiation with MEA/PEA

• Structuring finance options using Thai industrial low-interest loans and green energy funds, and coordinating technical teams on equipment selection for tropical conditions

• Building and maintaining relationships with the Ministry of Energy, provincial governments and the utilities

• Risk management: policy change and grid-access uncertainty, long-term PPA revenue security, and typhoon/community-dispute risk

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree or above (energy engineering, business or international trade preferred)

• 5+ years in the power or new-energy industry, including 2+ years developing projects in Thailand or Southeast Asia, with 1-2 projects taken through the full cycle (resource assessment, approvals, financing, grid connection and O&M handover)

• Hands-on experience developing and delivering utility-scale solar, BESS or wind projects on the ground in Thailand

• Fluent Mandarin and English (business negotiation and contracting level); Thai is an advantage

• Based in Thailand, or willing to relocate and live in Thailand on a permanent basis; regular travel within Southeast Asia

• Applications without hands-on solar/BESS/wind project development experience in Thailand cannot be considered.

What is on offer

• Annual package in the region of THB 2.4 - 3.5 million, subject to the candidate's experience
