Interstate Engineering is looking for a Senior Civil Project Engineer to join our team in Western North Dakota. Based in Mandan, Dickinson, or Williston, this is an opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who wants to lead meaningful projects, build strong client relationships, mentor the next generation of engineers, and have a voice in how we continue to grow across the region.

We’re not looking for someone to simply manage a list of projects. We’re looking for someone who wants to make an impact.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll take ownership of complex civil engineering projects from strategy through delivery. You’ll work directly with clients, lead multidisciplinary teams, solve challenging problems, and help develop the people around you.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Lead the planning, design, budgeting, and delivery of large-scale civil engineering projects.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities while keeping clients informed and projects moving forward.
• Build trusted, long-term relationships with communities, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Lead and collaborate with engineers, surveyors, planners, landscape architects, environmental specialists, and other professionals.
• Provide technical guidance and help solve complex engineering challenges.
• Mentor Project Engineers, Staff Engineers, and Engineering Technicians as they develop their careers.
• Identify opportunities to improve projects, strengthen client relationships, and expand the work we do.
• Play an active role in the continued growth of Interstate Engineering in Western North Dakota.

Who We're Looking For

You’re an experienced civil engineer who is comfortable taking the lead while still enjoying the technical side of the work. You know that successful projects are about more than plans and specifications—they’re about communication, relationships, good decisions, and earning trust.

Ideally, you bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Approximately 7-10 years of civil engineering experience, including significant project management experience.
• Experience leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong client relationship, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A willingness to mentor others and share what you’ve learned.
• The ability to see both the details of a project and the bigger picture.
