Sr. Project Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Project Engineer leads complex engineering and manufacturing projects focused on High Voltage Power Supplies (HVPS) and Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTA) for military and aerospace applications. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong project management capabilities to ensure products meet stringent performance, reliability, and MIL STD compliance requirements. The engineer oversees full product lifecycle activities—from design transfer and manufacturing readiness to production optimization and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross functional engineering projects focused on HVPS and TWTA systems used in military-grade communication, radar, and electronic warfare applications.
  • Drive the transition of designs into manufacturing, ensuring production processes are robust, repeatable, and compliant with military and aerospace standards.
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, risks, and resource allocation across engineering, manufacturing, quality, test, and supply chain teams.
  • Oversee design reviews, technical investigations, failure analysis, and root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Ensure manufacturing processes and product performance meet MIL STD requirements (e.g., MIL STD 810, MIL STD 461, MIL PRF specifications).
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing documentation including build instructions, process flows, test procedures, and validation plans.
  • Lead DFM/DFT initiatives to improve manufacturability, reliability, cost, and throughput for HVPS and TWTA assemblies.
  • Provide technical oversight of high-voltage safety protocols and RF/power subsystem integration.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on key components (TWTs, magnetics, HV assemblies, RF hardware) to ensure quality and schedule compliance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement in engineering and manufacturing operations.
  • Drive qualification testing, environmental testing, and manufacturing readiness reviews (MRR).
  • Prepare customer-facing technical documentation, status updates, and compliance reports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, military electronics, HVPS, or RF power systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage circuits, power conversion, TWTAs, vacuum electronics, or related technologies.
  • Experience working within military/aerospace compliance frameworks and environmental/test standards.
  • Proven leadership in multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering documentation, root-cause analysis, and project management tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and coordination skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in military/aerospace production environments.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering tools (FMEA, HALT/HASS, CDR, MTBF, statistical process control).
  • Working knowledge of TWT integration, HV magnetics, RF chain design, or thermal management of high power assemblies.
  • Certifications: PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent is a plus.
