Senior Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead the end-to-end delivery of 132kV and 275kV high-voltage (HV) substations for TNB and Data Center developments.

Job Responsibilities:

• End-to-End Project Delivery: Direct the full lifecycle of 132kV and 275kV PMU (Pencawang Masuk Utama) / Switchyard construction, underground cabling, and transmission line engineering from inception to final handover.
• Tendering & Documentation: Lead the preparation, review, and submission of technical and commercial project tendering documents. Develop accurate cost estimates, scope-of-work definitions, project schedules, and subcontractor tender evaluation packages.
• TNB Liaison & Compliance: Manage full coordination with TNB departments (e.g., Grid Division, Asset Management) to secure technical approvals, clearance permits, and ensure strict compliance with TNB technical standards and Malaysia’s Energy Commission (ST) regulations.
• Data Center Integration: Coordinate closely with Data Center clients, consultants, and MEP teams to align the HV substation construction schedule with the mission-critical power requirements and tight commissioning deadlines of the data center.
• Site & Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with contractors and multidisciplinary teams. Oversee civil, structural, and electrical installation works, prioritizing site safety, quality audits, and progress tracking.
• Testing & Commissioning (T&C): Oversee testing, pre-commissioning, and final energization phases of power transformers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS/AIS), and protection systems.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related field.

• Registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is highly preferred.

• More than 8 years of work experience in HV substations, transmission, or grid interconnection infrastructure.

• Mandatory experience delivering 132kV or 275kV substation projects directly involved with TNB High Tension (HT) or High Voltage project sites.

• Proven track record working on Data Center power infrastructure will be an added advantage.

• Deep technical knowledge of HV Substations (AIS/GIS), power transformers, protection relays, and underground cable networks.

• Thorough familiarity with TNB technical procedures, including the NIOSH-TNB Safety Passport, Blue Book, Green Book, testing standards, and handover documentation.

• Proficiency in project management and engineering software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and AutoCAD.
