Senior Project Engineer (EMS)

An established global automotive electronics company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead product development activities from concept through production launch. This role will serve as a key technical focal point for customer programs, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure products are delivered according to quality, cost, performance, and timing objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and design through validation and production launch.
• Act as the primary technical contact for assigned customer programs and support technical discussions, design reviews, and issue resolution.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including Hardware, Software, Mechanical Design, Validation, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.
• Ensure customer requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and executed throughout the development process.
• Drive engineering deliverables and monitor project milestones to ensure development activities remain on schedule.
• Facilitate risk assessments and proactively identify technical concerns, defining mitigation plans to support successful program execution.
• Coordinate product design reviews, validation activities, and engineering readiness evaluations.
• Manage engineering changes throughout development and industrialization phases, ensuring timely implementation and stakeholder alignment.
• Support DFMEA activities and contribute to product robustness, reliability, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design-for-manufacturability and smooth transition into mass production.
• Support APQP, PPAP, customer audits, and production launch activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, engineering records, specifications, and change management documentation.
• Work closely with global engineering teams and development centers to align technical solutions and project priorities.
• Provide regular updates on development status, technical risks, open issues, and recovery plans to key stakeholders.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, project engineering, customer engineering, R&D, or related engineering functions within the automotive industry.
• Experience supporting or leading new product development projects from concept through production launch.
• Experience working with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or electronics manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
• Experience working within international and cross-functional project teams.

Technical Knowledge

• Automotive product development processes and project execution methodologies.

• APQP, PPAP, and Engineering Change Management processes.

• Product validation, verification planning, and testing activities.

• DFMEA, risk assessment, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

• Product industrialization and production launch processes.

• Automotive quality systems and customer requirements.

• Understanding of electronic product development and system integration.

• Familiarity with hardware, software, and mechanical development coordination.

• Knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive quality standards.

• Experience with infotainment systems, displays, cockpit electronics, connectivity solutions, telematics, embedded systems, or other automotive electronic products would be beneficial.
