Our Austin studio is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex architectural projects while helping grow one of Texas' premier integrated design practices. This is an opportunity to work alongside nationally recognized architects, engineers, and designers on projects that transform communities, from higher education campuses and civic landmarks to complex public infrastructure and workplace environments.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams through every phase of project delivery while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. You will collaborate closely with Principals-in-Charge to cultivate client relationships, support strategic pursuits, mentor emerging leaders, and contribute to the continued growth of our practice.

We're looking for a collaborative leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional communication, sound business judgment, and a passion for delivering design excellence.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple large, complex architectural projects through all phases of design and construction.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, fostering strong relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with Principals-in-Charge on business development activities, client positioning, proposal preparation, interviews, and project pursuits.
  • Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and financial performance.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and owner representatives.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget while proactively identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Ensure projects meet client goals for program, budget, schedule, quality, and design intent.
  • Facilitate project meetings, owner meetings, consultant coordination meetings, and construction progress meetings.
  • Manage contract administration, including change orders, additional services, applications for payment, and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Stantec's Project Management Framework and quality management processes.
  • Work closely with Operations and Practice Leadership to forecast staffing needs and allocate project resources.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and emerging professionals while fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Keep the Principal-in-Charge informed of project status, key decisions, financial performance, and client issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project closeout activities, ensuring successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex architectural projects through all phases of design and construction.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships while supporting business development and pursuit efforts.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, resource planning, invoicing, and profitability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, construction methods, accessibility requirements, life safety codes, and applicable building codes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining exceptional quality and client service.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with sound professional judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Newforma; experience with Revit, Bluebeam, and project management software is preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Registered Architect (RA) required.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible architectural experience, including leadership of complex building projects.
  • Demonstrated project management experience across multiple project phases and building types.
  • Experience with higher education, civic, public, healthcare, workplace, science and technology, or other complex institutional projects is preferred.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teams and construction administration is highly desirable.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP is preferred.
