Senior Project Manager | Bridge Infrastructure Program
Birmingham, Alabama (Alabama-based preferred, remote considered with regular travel to Alabama)

The Naked Headhunter is hiring on behalf of a confidential client, a century-old leader in heavy steel fabrication and precision machining. They urgently need a Senior Project Manager to take ownership of a $100M+ bridge infrastructure and seismic retrofit program already in execution. We are looking for a top-tier project manager who can step in and take charge immediately.

The role
You will be the single point of accountability for schedule, cost, quality, risk and customer communication across structural steel fabrication, precision machining and specialty device manufacturing. You will bring engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, finance and operations into one execution plan and act as the company’s lead representative with the general contractor.

What you will do

• Lead the program from day one and build the Integrated Master Schedule
• Run weekly program reviews and track commitments to closure
• Own program financials, including cost variances, forecasting, change orders, retainage and bonding compliance
• Identify and mitigate schedule, quality, commercial and supplier risks early, and build recovery plans
• Serve as the primary day-to-day contact with the general contractor, managing status reviews, submittals and RFIs
• Support estimating and RFQ reviews, and act as a resource on federal, state and special-district requirements

What you bring

• 12+ years of project management experience in heavy fabrication, infrastructure or industrial manufacturing, including programs valued at $50M or more
• Engineering degree (mechanical, civil or structural), or a Construction Management degree
• Working knowledge of heavy steel fabrication, machining and welding
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications and to navigate large, multi-volume contract document sets
• Bridge, seismic retrofit or other large-scale infrastructure experience, including DOT or state agency projects
• PMP and familiarity with AISC, AWS (D1.1, D1.5) or DOT standards preferred

Steel fabrication experience is ideal, but we will gladly speak with accomplished senior project managers who do not meet every requirement and bring other strong experience.

Structure and location
This is available as a full-time ongoing position or as an engagement for the life of the contract (4+ years). We prefer candidates based in Birmingham or elsewhere in Alabama. Remote candidates are very welcome, provided they can travel to Birmingham and other locations regularly for meetings with the team and the customer. The role includes time in shop and fabrication environments.

Compensation
Base salary of $115,000 to $145,000 per year depending on experience, with total compensation of $130,000 to $160,000 including bonus and incentives. Contract engagement rates will be discussed individually.
