SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – St Leonards

Hamilton Island is seeking a delivery-focused Senior Project Manager to join our IT team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, based in St Leonards, Sydney.

With the project already underway, we’re looking for someone who can quickly understand its current position, take ownership of the delivery plan and keep implementation moving. You’ll bring practical leadership, clear accountability and a strong focus on achieving milestones and business outcomes.

Your role

Reporting to the Director of Program Delivery, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of an in-flight project, managing timelines, budgets, resources and dependencies.

Your immediate focus will be to understand progress, validate the remaining delivery plan and resolve issues that could affect implementation. You’ll keep teams accountable for commitments, escalate decisions promptly and ensure the business is ready for a successful transition into operations.

Where you’ll make an impact

• Take ownership of the existing project plan, confirming milestones, outstanding deliverables and delivery priorities
• Drive day-to-day execution across business teams, IT specialists and vendors
• Identify and remove blockers, manage dependencies and address risks before they affect delivery
• Hold internal teams and vendors accountable for agreed timelines and outcomes
• Maintain control of scope, budget and resources, assessing changes against delivery commitments
• Provide clear, accurate reporting on progress, issues and decisions required
• Coordinate testing, business readiness, implementation and operational handover
• Maintain appropriate governance, quality, security and compliance throughout delivery

What we’re looking for

You’re a hands-on project manager who takes ownership and follows through. You can step into an established project, quickly build credibility and turn delivery challenges into clear actions.

You’re comfortable having direct conversations, managing competing priorities and keeping stakeholders focused on what needs to happen next.

To be successful, you’ll need

• Demonstrated experience taking over in-flight IT or transformation projects and driving them to completion
• A strong track record of delivering against agreed milestones, budgets and business outcomes
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing vendor performance
• Strong planning, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence managing risks, dependencies, scope changes and delivery issues
• Experience overseeing testing, implementation and transition into business operations
• A practical approach to governance, with clear reporting and timely escalation
