What they need
Company Description
PRP is an interdisciplinary, design-led architectural practice with over 60 years’ experience in housing design and urban planning. We deliver intelligent, responsive and enduring design solutions through a collaborative and knowledge-based approach. With our extensive team of architects and professional services we create places of distinction and purpose.
PRP employs more than 300 staff with studios in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Poland. Our work is primarily UK-based, although we have experience of international projects.
Role Description
We are growing our Development Consultancy team in Wrocław and are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager. You will lead a portfolio of UK residential new-build and building-safety remediation projects from concept to completion. You will administer building contracts, manage client relationships and coordinate our in-house specialists, external consultants and contractors. You'll work closely with colleagues and clients in the UK, with training and mentoring in UK contracts and regulation.
Your responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of UK residential new-build and building-safety remediation projects from concept to completion, within the agreed scope of services.
- Deliver projects to agreed programme, budget, quality and fee, and protect project profitability.
- Administer building contracts (JCT and others), including preparing and negotiating contract terms.
- Assess contractors' valuations, manage payment procedures and control contract variations.
- Advise clients on contractual matters, including extension of time and loss and expense claims.
- Forecast project budgets and prepare monthly reports for clients, flagging risks to cost, programme and delivery early.
- Act as day-to-day client contact, managing expectations and building long-term relationships.
- Coordinate in-house specialists, external consultants and contractors, and chair and minute project meetings.
- Keep up to date with legislation and standards, including the Building Safety Act, and follow PRP systems and Q&EMS procedures.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, and help build project management capability in the Wrocław studio.
Our requirements
- A degree in civil engineering, construction management or architecture.
- 7+ years in construction project management, including contract administration and managing contractors. Ideally also experience of residential or refurbishment projects.
- Experience with FIDIC or another recognised form of contract.
- Experience of valuations and payment certification, variations, claims, extensions of time and change control.
- Experience in chairing meetings and managing clients and contractors.
- Fluent English in speaking and writing, because they will manage UK clients directly.
- Understanding of the UK construction context, or a strong ability to learn it.
Optional requirements
- Experience working with UK or international clients, or for a UK or international firm.
- Experience with NEC, JCT or other UK-style contracts.
- Façade, cladding, refurbishment or fire-safety work.
- MRICS, or working toward RICS qualification
