About the role

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager (Construction) to join our team in a full-time capacity based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This is a strategic position within our purchasing and procurement division, where you will oversee all procurement activities related to our construction projects and operations. As Senior Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier relationship management, and inventory optimisation across our construction portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to drive procurement excellence and contribute directly to the successful delivery of our construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies aligned with construction project requirements and company objectives
• Source, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favourable contract terms for construction materials, equipment and services
• Manage supplier relationships, performance monitoring and contract administration to ensure compliance and quality standards
• Oversee inventory management systems and ensure optimal stock levels whilst minimising carrying costs
• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to understand procurement needs and timelines for construction projects
• Prepare and analyse purchase orders, invoices and payment terms to maintain financial controls
• Lead and mentor junior procurement staff, providing guidance on purchasing procedures and best practices
• Monitor market trends and commodity prices to identify cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiencies
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations and sustainable procurement practices
• Prepare regular procurement reports and present findings to senior management
• Able to communication with 3 language

What we're looking for

• Minimum 8-10 years' experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain management, with substantial experience in the construction or manufacturing sectors
• Proven track record of managing large procurement budgets and negotiating complex supplier contracts
• In-depth knowledge of construction materials, equipment and industry supply chains
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate supplier performance and identify cost optimisation opportunities
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Proficiency in procurement systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and Microsoft Office applications
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team
• Knowledge of procurement best practices, including vendor management, inventory control and contract administration
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Professional qualification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent is highly desirable
• Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry standards and regulatory requirements
