Senior Python Backend Engineer – AWS & Terraform

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Engineer with strong expertise in Python development, AWS cloud services, Terraform, and distributed systems. The ideal candidate will design and develop scalable backend applications, automate cloud infrastructure, optimize system performance, and provide technical leadership while collaborating closely with clients and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and data engineering pipelines using Python and distributed computing frameworks.
• Provision, manage, scale, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
• Translate high-level business and technical requirements into detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs), focusing on performance, scalability, and database efficiency.
• Design and implement reliable, high-performance backend services and distributed systems.
• Optimize database schemas, queries, indexing strategies, and data access patterns across relational and non-relational databases.
• Collaborate directly with clients and external stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify business needs, and recommend technical solutions.
• Mentor junior developers, lead daily standups, conduct peer code reviews, and establish engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive improvements in application reliability, security, and performance.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Python programming, object-oriented programming (OOP), software design patterns, and production-grade application development.
• Extensive experience with AWS services, including S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, and containerized deployments.
• Proven experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, including infrastructure provisioning, reusable modules, and multi-environment deployments.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience building distributed systems, concurrent applications, and high-throughput data processing pipelines.
• Strong understanding of system design, Low-Level Design (LLD), scalability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies is beneficial.

• Proven ability to mentor developers, lead technical discussions, and conduct constructive code reviews.
