Senior Python Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Python, FastAPI, and MongoDB. The ideal candidate is strong in debugging, core backend problem solving, architecting scalable systems, and leveraging AI-driven approaches to enhance development and design workflows. You will play a key role in designing backend infrastructure, building robust APIs, improving system performance, and mentoring teams through technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable backend systems and microservices.
• Develop RESTful APIs and ensure seamless integration with frontend and third-party services.
• Lead the design of end-to-end system architecture, including infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
• Work extensively with MongoDB including schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines, and performance tuning.
• Optimize queries and data models for scalable, high-throughput applications.
• Debug complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver robust fixes.
• Identify systemic issues and propose long-term solutions.
• Create detailed use cases, troubleshoot technical debt, and improve existing codebases.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development workflows (e.g., debugging, architecture suggestions, documentation).
• Explore opportunities to integrate AI into backend systems and automation tasks.
• Contribute to infrastructure planning: cloud services, containerization, CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with DevOps to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, QA).
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as FastAPI (mandatory).
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB (mandatory).
• Excellent debugging, code-analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of backend design patterns, multithreading, concurrency, and API security.
• Experience designing scalable infrastructure.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, CI/CD (preferred).
• Ability to create clear technical documentation and use-case diagrams.
• Ability to leverage AI tools to improve development efficiency.

Good to Have

• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming.
• Exposure to distributed systems, message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
