Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer with strong expertise in asynchronous application development, REST API design, database integration, and backend testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable services using FastAPI, working with PostgreSQL and modern ORM patterns, and managing database migrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain asynchronous backend services using Python and FastAPI .
• Build and maintain request and response validation using Pydantic models .
• Develop and optimize database interactions using PostgreSQL and modern SQLAlchemy 2.0-style ORM patterns.
• Design REST APIs with appropriate error handling and structured responses.
• Manage database schema changes using Liquibase XML changesets and Maven-based migration workflows.
• Integrate with Dremio through PyArrow Flight and work with Snowflake databases.
• Develop and maintain automated tests using pytest and mocking techniques with unittest.mock.
• Collaborate with development and deployment teams to support containerized applications.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for application deployment and orchestration.

Required Technical Skills

• Python: Strong backend development experience.
• FastAPI: Hands-on experience developing asynchronous applications.
• Pydantic: Request/response models and data validation.
• PostgreSQL: Database design, querying, and performance optimization.
• SQLAlchemy ORM: Modern 2.0-style mappings, mapped classes, relationships, and relationship loading strategies.
• REST API Development: API design, validation, and structured error handling.
• Liquibase: XML changesets and Maven-based database migration workflows.
• PyArrow and Arrow Flight: Data access and integration experience.
• Dremio and Snowflake: Database and data platform integration experience.
• Testing: pytest, unit testing, and mocking using unittest.mock.
• Deployment: Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.

Candidate Requirements

• 6–8 years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in Python backend development.
• Practical experience with asynchronous FastAPI applications and PostgreSQL ORM.
• Good understanding of API development, database migrations, and automated testing.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Manila, Philippines.
