Senior Python Developer

Context

You will join a team as a Senior Python Developer working on backend services supporting asset onboarding, contract management, and market operations within the energy trading domain. The role involves close collaboration with product managers and domain experts to translate business needs into scalable software features. The environment follows agile delivery processes with regular sprint planning, retrospectives, and team coordination.

Missions

• Design and implement backend services in Python to support asset onboarding, contract management, and market operations.
• Develop APIs and data pipelines to integrate application components with the broader information ecosystem, including internal and external applications, data hubs, and other data storage systems and consumers.
• Build integration with messaging systems (MQTT, RabbitMQ) for real-time data ingestion.
• Work with PostgreSQL for relational and time-series data modelling, optimization, and integrity.
• Leverage AWS services such as RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, ECS, and Docker.
• Collaborate with product managers and domain experts to translate business needs into scalable software features.
• Contribute to agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and team coordination.
• Contribute to the release process every two weeks.
• Support level 2 on existing applications and on dedicated releases in production.

• Python (6+ years of application development experience)
• PostgreSQL (schema design, performance tuning, time-series data handling)
• AWS services: RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, ECS, Docker
• Messaging systems: MQTT, RabbitMQ
• APIs, data pipelines, streaming, and system integration paradigms
• Agile development practices and collaborative delivery environments
• Nice to have: React or front-end experience, FastAPI or alternatives (Flask, Django), container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines

Working Conditions

• Location: Paris
• Languages: Fluent in English and French; Dutch is a plus

1. 6+ years of Python development experience (application development)
2. Proficiency in PostgreSQL, including schema design, performance tuning, and time-series data handling
3. Experience with AWS services (RDS, S3, IAM, ECS, and Docker)
4. Understanding of energy trading concepts such as position management, day-ahead/intraday markets, and ancillary services
5. Experience working with APIs, data pipelines and streaming, and other system integration paradigms
6. Familiarity with agile development practices and collaborative delivery environments
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and cultures
8. Proactive mindset with a collaborative spirit and a willingness to support team delivery
9. Ability to break down complex problems and propose pragmatic, scalable solutions
10. Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of autonomy
11. Empathy, humility, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability
12. Fluent in English and French; Dutch is a plus
