Senior Python Developer | Investment Banking | Data & Application Platform

We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to join a high-performing engineering team building a brand-new data and application platform for a leading investment banking client. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will help define architecture, drive engineering excellence, mentor developers, and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade solutions. What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python
• Build and optimise data pipelines and processing workloads on Databricks
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release processes within Azure DevOps
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance during the development of a new strategic platform
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and best-practice coaching
• Design and consume RESTful APIs while collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions
• Champion clean code principles, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
• Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and business stakeholders
• Support and enhance existing applications within a fast-paced enterprise investment banking environment

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on Python development expertise
• Extensive experience working with Sybase ASE and/or Sybase IQ, including database development and stored procedures
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimisation and performance tuning
• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting
• Experience testing both applications and data-processing solutions
• Excellent understanding of clean coding and software engineering best practices
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
