Senior Software Engineer – Python & React

We’re excited to be working with a leading global organisation that is growing its Manchester engineering team and investing in modern applications, cloud technology and AI.

They’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Python and React experience to help build and modernise business-critical platforms. This is a great opportunity to join an established team, take ownership of technical decisions and see your work used across an international business.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from shaping initial ideas and architecture through to development, deployment and ongoing improvement. Alongside delivering reliable, user-focused applications, you’ll have the opportunity to explore emerging technologies and practical ways AI can improve products and workflows. There’s plenty of scope to contribute your ideas, support other engineers and develop towards principal engineering, architecture or technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable applications using Python and React.
• Build APIs and backend services with FastAPI or Flask.
• Create intuitive interfaces using React and TypeScript.
• Contribute to architecture, technical standards and engineering decisions.
• Improve application performance, reliability and scalability.
• Strengthen automation, testing and CI/CD practices.
• Work closely with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
• Mentor colleagues and explore new technologies through practical experimentation.

Tech stack

Python, FastAPI, Flask, Pandas, React, TypeScript and Node.js, alongside AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB and GitHub Actions.

What we’re looking for

• Strong commercial experience developing Python applications and modern React interfaces.
• Experience building APIs and backend services using FastAPI or Flask.
• A good understanding of software architecture and scalable application design.
• Experience with relational databases and familiarity with NoSQL technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud environments, containerisation and CI/CD.
• Confidence taking technical ownership, solving complex problems and collaborating across teams.
• An interest in AI and emerging technologies, with a practical approach to applying them.
• Experience with AI/ML, LLMs, Kafka, PySpark, Airflow or Streamlit would be a bonus, as would experience in a regulated environment.

Location: Manchester (hybrid)

Salary: Up to £95,000 + bonus
