What they need

Company Overview

At K12 Plus, we believe the future of K-12 technology is built on connection. Our mission is to Connect People. Connect Programs. Connect Student Success. We're resetting the special programs software market by replacing disconnected legacy systems with a modern, cloud-native platform that unifies Special Education (IEP), Section 504, RTI/MTSS, and LPAC into one connected experience.

To make that vision possible, we're looking for an experienced Python Integration Engineer who is passionate about building secure, scalable integrations that connect school districts with the systems they rely on every day. If you enjoy solving complex integration challenges, working with cloud technologies, and building APIs that make software work seamlessly together, we'd love to meet you.

Role Overview

  • Job Title: Senior Python Integration Engineer
  • Work Environment: 100% Remote (Must be located within North or South America)
  • Language Requirement: Fluent English speaker
  • Experience Level: 5+ years of software engineering experience

The Senior Python Integration Engineer will drive the technical execution and development of our integration ecosystem. This role requires a minimum of 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years of hands-on Python development and core experience deploying integrations natively within AWS. In this role, you will design robust RESTful APIs, build scalable data pipelines, and optimize complex system connections while ensuring high availability and cloud security best practices.

What You'll Do

As a member of our engineering team, you'll design and develop integrations that enable K12 Plus to become the connected hub for school district data. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop Python services: Design, build, and maintain highly scalable Python integration services.
  • Build APIs & event flows: Construct REST APIs and event-driven integrations with internal and third-party systems.
  • Connect K-12 ecosystems: Develop integrations with Student Information Systems (SIS), identity providers, assessment platforms, and state education data exchanges.
  • Implement data standards: Build and maintain integrations with the Texas Education Exchange (Ed-Fi) and other education data standards.
  • Secure cloud syncing: Design secure data synchronization processes between cloud platforms.
  • Troubleshoot flows: Resolve complex API, authentication, and data synchronization issues.
  • Automate monitoring: Develop automated monitoring, logging, and alerting for all integration services.
  • Write high-quality code: Author clean, maintainable, and well-tested Python code.
  • Shape architecture: Participate in technical architecture discussions and contribute to long-term platform design.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work alongside Product, Engineering, QA, and Customer Success teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in software integration, application development, or IT infrastructure.
  • Python proficiency: 2+ years of experience writing production-grade, maintainable Python code.
  • AWS core ecosystem: Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, ECS/Fargate, and S3.
  • Containerization: Practical experience building and managing Docker containers.
  • Data & protocols: Deep understanding of REST standards, OpenAPI v3/Swagger specifications, code generation tools, and data formats like JSON and XML.
  • Databases & security: Strong grasp of both SQL and NoSQL database management alongside cloud security best practices.

Desired Skills & Preferences

  • Ed-Fi data models: Direct experience with the Ed-Fi Alliance data model and API framework.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
