Senior QA Engineer in C# (Test Automation & Data Testing)

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer with a strong background in both manual and automated testing to ensure the quality and reliability of complex data-driven applications.

The role combines approximately 70% manual testing and 30% test automation, with a particular focus on validating large datasets, data flows, and data mappings. You will contribute to test strategy, develop and maintain automated tests using C# and BDD frameworks, and collaborate closely with developers and business stakeholders to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

Working Hours: Availability is required from 09:00 to 16:00 UK time on working days. Unlock the potential of remote work in Kazakhstan, giving you the flexibility to work from home or access our offices in Astana, Almaty or Karaganda. Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated testing of application functionality, data processing, and integrations
• Evaluate test scenarios and determine which cases are best suited for automation versus manual execution
• Develop and maintain automated tests in C#, including test fixtures and step definitions
• Use BDD frameworks such as SpecFlow, Cucumber, FitNesse, or equivalent tools
• Create and maintain clear, structured, and reusable Gherkin scenarios
• Design and execute data-focused tests, validating large datasets, data flows, transformations, and mappings between systems
• Write and maintain SQL queries to verify data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and integrity
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain test execution reports
• Define test scenarios, select appropriate testing techniques, and ensure adequate coverage of requirements and business risks
• Identify, document, track, and communicate defects, collaborating with development and business teams to resolve issues
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvements in testing processes and quality practices

Requirements

• 3+ years of proven experience in software quality assurance, covering both manual testing and test automation
• Strong programming skills in C# and experience developing automated tests
• Practical experience with BDD testing frameworks such as SpecFlow, Cucumber, FitNesse, or similar tools
• Experience creating and maintaining test fixtures, step definitions, and Gherkin scenarios
• Strong SQL skills and experience validating large volumes of data
• Solid understanding of data flows, data transformations, and data mapping validation
• Ability to assess testing needs and make informed decisions about when to automate and when to perform manual testing
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with test reporting tools
• Knowledge of test design techniques, risk-based testing, and test coverage
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills
• English proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
• Ability to maintain the required working-hour availability from 09:00 to 16:00 UK time on working days

• Experience in financial services or trading environments, such as commodity trading, investment banking, brokerage, or exchange platforms
