Senior QC Inspector

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspection and quality control activities for locomotive fabrication works, including structural components, frames, brackets, supports and welded assemblies.

• Conduct visual inspection (VT) of welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with approved drawings, WPS, applicable standards and project specifications.

• Perform and/or coordinate NDT activities, including:

  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
  • Other applicable NDT methods as required by the project.

• Verify welding activities against approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ensure welders are qualified and working within their approved qualifications.

• Inspect joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, welding parameters and weld quality prior to, during and after fabrication.

• Conduct dimensional inspection using appropriate measuring tools and equipment to verify fabrication accuracy and compliance with drawings.

• Review and verify material certificates, inspection records, welding consumables and other relevant quality documents.

• Carry out inspection at various stages of fabrication in accordance with the approved Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).

• Identify, record and monitor non-conformities (NCR) and ensure corrective actions are properly implemented and closed.

• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, NDT reports, check sheets, punch lists and other QC documentation.

• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Welding and Project teams to resolve quality issues and ensure timely completion of fabrication activities.

• Liaise with clients, third-party inspectors and/or certification bodies during inspection and testing activities.

• Ensure all inspection and testing equipment is properly calibrated and valid for use.

• Monitor fabrication workmanship and provide technical guidance to QC Inspectors and production personnel where required.

• Participate in final inspection, dimensional verification and punch-list clearance prior to delivery or project handover.

• Ensure all quality records are properly compiled and maintained for project traceability and audit purposes.

• Support internal, customer and external quality audits when required.

• Ensure compliance with company QA/QC procedures, railway industry requirements, safety requirements and applicable international standards.
