Role Summary

As a Senior QA Engineer , you will be responsible for planning, designing and executing testing activities across applications and integrated hardware/software solutions. You will work as part of an Agile DevOps team, ensuring high-quality delivery through functional, integration, system, acceptance and end-to-end testing.

A key focus of this role will be hardware and software integration testing , particularly for E-gates, automated border control systems and self-service airport kiosks . You will work closely with developers, product owners, hardware engineers and business stakeholders to validate complete passenger journeys across applications, devices and external systems.

Reporting to the Software Development Manager , you will be part of the Product Technology and Engineering team .

What you will do

• Review requirements and functionality documents, identify gaps and maintain the query log.
• Analyse existing test suites and create additional test cases to ensure comprehensive Acceptance and Integration Test coverage.
• Design and execute End-to-End, Integration, Acceptance, Functional and Regression Testing .
• Perform hands-on hardware/software integration testing across E-gates, kiosks, passport/document readers, biometric devices, cameras, scanners, printers, sensors and other peripherals.
• Validate complete passenger journeys across multiple applications, APIs, devices and backend systems.
• Perform API testing , including REST/SOAP services, request/response validation, data flows and system integrations.
• Manage test cases, execution results and defects using ALM Octane .
• Investigate defects across hardware, application, API and backend layers and work with engineering teams to support root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to test automation , identifying suitable scenarios and supporting the maintenance of automated test suites.
• Provide testing estimates and contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement of QA processes.

Who you are

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer with 5+ years of software testing experience , ideally within an Agile/DevOps environment.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience in hardware/software integration testing of complex systems involving physical devices and software applications.
• Hands-on experience testing E-gates, airport kiosks, automated border control or passenger processing systems .
• Experience integrating and testing devices such as passport/document readers, biometric equipment, cameras, scanners, printers, gates and sensors .
• Strong understanding of end-to-end system integration and troubleshooting across hardware, application, API and backend layers.
• Strong experience in functional, integration, system, regression and acceptance testing.
• Experience with API testing , including REST/SOAP.
• Experience with ALM Octane for test management and defect tracking.
• Experience with test automation and automation frameworks would be advantageous.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure / Azure DevOps and CI/CD would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with developers, hardware engineers, product owners and business stakeholders.

Desirable

• Experience in the aviation, airport, airline, border control or travel technology sector.
• Experience with biometrics, passport validation and automated border control .
• Experience developing or maintaining automated test suites.
